AM3D MAILING LIST RULES

Please be aware that not following these guidelines will lead to a warning, revoking of posting privileges, or removal from the list. When in doubt, contact the list's owner/moderator, zero@3dark.com.

Try to keep list "noise" (off topic posts, etc) to a minimum. The more noise this list generates, the less likely professionals, long-time list members, and others will have the time or desire to remain subscribed.

As the first general guideline: Please remember to moderate yourself when posting.

LIST RULES:

  • 1. When sharing work, please make an effort to indicate an estimate of your skill level in the subject header of your message using 1 of the 4 subject header keys provided: NOVICE:, INTERMEDIATE:, ADVANCED:, or ELITE (Abreviated is acceptable: NOV:, INT:, ADV:, and ELI:)

Example: INT: "url or title of image" (It is assumed that you want your work critiqued, so saying so is not necessary)

  • 2. No SPAM. When in doubt, please contact the list's moderator for approval.

  • 3. No flaming or personal attacks. Differences of opinion are welcome, but must be well thought out and based on fact and logic. Complaints should be sent to the list's moderator.

  • 4. Do not send attachments (files, images, e-mail signatures) to the list under any circumstances. Images and animations are shared by directing people to URLS only.

  • 5. Avoid one line replies. Please have something worthwhile to say.

  • 6. Only quote what is necessary from a message. Trim the rest. If it is not relevant to your reply, do not include it. Excessive quoting will lead to removal of posting privileges.

  • 7. Have fun, but _try_ to keep off topic posts (anything not remotely related to 3D, computer graphics, or art) to a minimum. This list is for sharing artwork and seeking constructive criticism.

  • 8. Please take other people's feelings into consideration. All comments concerning someone else's work should be as thought out and constructive as possible. It is ok to be honest with someone concerning their work and offer constructive comments, but it is not ok to be abusive. Being abusive concerning someone else's work will lead to a warning or removal from the list.

  • 9. When replying to a post, please consider whether it would be more appropriate to reply to the individual only as opposed to sending your comments to the entire list.

  • 10. Be familiar with general Netiquette. For example, typing with ALL CAPS is generally considered shouting (please do not type with all caps).

  • 11. All posts must include some indication of the topic within the subject line. Please be as specific (but concise) as possible so that people can tell exactly what your message contains by looking at the subject line.

DIGEST users must replace the "Mailing-List-name Digest - Date to Date" header with something legitimate (Preferably with a "RE:" to the original subject they are replying to), as no one call tell what the content is about otherwise.

  • 12. Do not send HTML encoded messages to the list. Only use straight text.

  • 13. Please heed "ADMIN" notices from the list moderator.
